Sports Massage

Sports massage is a hands-on technique used by many Sports Therapists that manipulates the soft tissues of the body. It has physiological, neurological and psychological effects on the body. These effects are achieved by lifting, stretching, compressing and applying friction to the soft tissues such as muscles, tondons and fascia. There are many types of sports massage that IC Sports Therapy can apply depending on your needs: rehabilitative; injury preventionpre-, during or post-event; and maintenance. Please do not hesitate to get in touch to find out how sports massage could help you.

Sports/Postural Taping

Sports taping is being seen more and more within professional sport and exercise. Taping can be effective via man mechanisms. Whist taping is not a cure, it is a fantastic method of preventing or alleviating symptoms and can also help to optimise recovery and rehabilitation. Sports and postural taping can help with: injury prevention; conservation management; biomechanical/postural alteration; pain management; and proprioception.

Injury Assessment

Whilst it is often obvious when an injury has occurred, it is not always clear what that injury is. At IC Sports Therapy, Ieuan will carry out a full assessment of an injury – old or new – to determine what the best course of action is with regards to treatment. Whilst a face-to-face physical consultation is strongly advised, IC Sports Therapy are available at the end of the phone or via e-mail to discuss concerns about injuries or potential injuries that you may have. Where IC Sports Therapy may be unable to help in the case of certain particularly complex or serious injuries, an assessment will allow for the best advice to be given in terms of the next step on your road to recovery.

Exercise Rehabilitation

Exercise rehabilitation is a major part of a Sports Therapist’s approach to helping clients recover from an injury and, ultimately, preparing them for their return to activity. Exercises are utilised to strengthen, mobilise, and condition muscles and other structures related to the areas of the body surrounding the injury. This aspect of Sports Therapy is very specific to the injury and the needs of you as an individual. You can expect a structured, progressive approach initially consisting of low impact exercises and working through to more demanding, activity related exercises.

Of course, no client is the same as the next and you yourself may not be entirely sure what it is that you require. Friendly advice and suggestions are all part of what IC Sports Therapy do and we are more than happy to provide you with a free consultation with no obligation to book in for a therapy session.

How much will my sessions cost?

Here at IC Sports Therapy, we understand that sessions with a Sports Therapist, whether it be for a sports massage or a block of injury rehabilitation sessions, can often be a strain on the bank account. Our sessions are extremely reasonable, typically priced at £25 for a half hour session and £45 for an hour session. However, if you don’t quite require the full time slot the cost will of course be adjusted accordingly! Block bookings will also receive a discount.
